  • I have a legimate unlocked 32GB 3Gs iphone from Telstra and typed the link as above iehttp://bit.ly/telstra-iph into my iphone and presto it worked fantasic!

However, being a worried Telstra customer thinking that they might eventually introduce tethering I endeavoured to uninstall the profile that I downloaded earlier. BUT…….while I was able to remove the profile OK, the tethering remained unaffected by the removal of the profile.

Does anyone know why this has happened? Was it because it was a legit unlocked iphone or was it done when I downloaded the 3.0 software while restoring my iphone due to paid ($150) unlocking fee?

    I’d love to know.

    Thanks

  • BobR asks: I have downloaded the tethering settings but I am not sure how to go about using the tethering option. The iphone pdf instructions tell me to go into genreal/network and enable tethering but there is no on/off switch here. Any help gratefully received.

  • Ive been using scripts like this on an unlocked iphone using Telstra nextG. However I found out through experience of my own and others that even now this hack is obsolete with firmware 3.1.x. You need to not go past 3.01 . I hardly use tethering any more (as I have a mobile broadband USB stick). But Im worried to go to 3.1.2 as Im afraid the Apple giant and Telstra will lock down even more good features…..but I want to increase the bluetooth quality and other apps features that only 3.1.2 allows… :-(
