What Is Easter Sunday? Why Do We Celebrate?

On Easter Sunday many christians around the world celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches. Why Do they celebrate? What do they celebrate?
Christians believe that Jesus came back to life and rose from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion, is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus. The biblical account of Jesus’ death on the cross, or crucifixion, his burial and his resurrection, or raising from the dead, can be found in the following passages of Scripture: Matthew 27:27-28:8; Mark 15:16-16:19; Luke 23:26-24:35; and John 19:16-20:30. PHAT CAMP 2007

First of all the word “phat” is defined as “excellent”, “cool”, “fab”, “rad”, “super”, “wicked”, “foxy” & “HOT”!
Phat Camp 2007 is a Christian youth camp situated in Galston Gorge and is run by CCEC Youth. 150 People from year 7 to 12 left modern society to join with Christians and those interested in Christianity and dug deep into God’s word, growing rapidly in their Christian faith.
The Theme for PHAT 2007 was “007 Spies – Destined For Glory.” The camp was split into four teams – Russia, USA, UK & Japan. Between the Christianity talks and bible readings the teams aimed for glory, games that tested the teams Intelligence, Stealth & Endurance.
Talks/Sermons on the camp were by Dave Miers and on Thessalonians 1 through to chapter 4 under the topic of idiolism. The main focus of the talks where to encourage the campers to look at what elements of their lives were being hindered by idols. This was continued on from the last phat (2006) and subtopics were celebrities, sex, self, sport, stuff and success – what was getting in between them and having God as number one. All of the idolatry talks can be found on the CCEC Talkcast
Some of the good times at Phat:
- Chuck Norris Quotes – Chuck Norris has already been to Mars; that’s why there are no signs of life there.
- Sally.W rolling of her bunk and making a loud thump, waking everyone up except herself.
- Ben’s “Buffness” in the pool area.
